Asymmetrical Dress or Trench

Trench DressTank
I purchased these denim shorts last year at Target and seriously love them, but obviously can't find them online anymore! I'm linking a similar pair here though for under $50!

I originally ordered this "trench dress" to wear as just that, a dress. However, to be completely honest, when I got it in the mail I just didn't love how it looked on me when worn as a dress. So, that made me get creative! I adore the asymmetrical hem on it combined with the short sleeves, which makes it a great layering piece for this time of year. I decided to pair it over my staple white tank and favorite denim shorts to create an elevated city chic, summer look. Wearing a long duster, trench, or kimono over shorts in the warmer months can make you feel covered and not so exposed while keeping your proportions in line. Try grabbing a shirt dress from your closet to create a similar look as seen here!

PS - This piece is a part of Chriselle Lim's line with J.O.A. at Nordstrom, and every single item from the line is fabulous! I am linking a few other pieces I'm obsessed with below! XO

What I'm Packing & Where We're Going!!

I mentioned in Wednesday's post that we are headed to California at the end of next week, so I thought I would do a different type of post on the blog today talking all about what I'm packing and where we're headed! The picture above was taken in November on the last trip we took to South Africa, which to this day is one of my favorite places I've ever visited in the world. It was a truly life changing experience visiting that part of the world and seeing all of the animals out in the wild. More on that later, but let's get to our upcoming trip - CALIFORNIA! In May of 2016, we visited San Francisco and Napa with friends, which also happened to coincide with my 30th birthday! It's a trip I will never forget, and I highly recommend taking a wine country trip with a group of friends - SO much (maybe a little too much) FUN!

Since that trip, we have wanted to go back to California and visit. I am one hundred percent a warm weather and sunshine type of girl. You probably laugh as you read that because who isn't?! But, I truly feel like I thrive in an environment that's sunny, warm, and full of gorgeous greenery! So, to say that I'm excited for this trip is an understatement! We are flying into San Francisco (Buddy's one request for the trip so that we can attend a baseball game) where we will spend two nights, then we are renting a car and making our way down the coastline, stopping at Big Sur (and who else knows where along the way), then making a stop in Laguna Beach for two nights, then finally LA for the remainder of the trip!

I have a running list of restaurants, hotels, and places that I want to see after scouring my bestie's LA City Guide, which you can find here! I've mentioned Holly's website, The Hollyday, before on this blog, but her LA City Guide has been a lifesaver for me with this trip ahead of us! If there are any other spots or recommendations you have in mind, please do share and comment below or on my latest Instagram post! I would love to hear from you!!

Below, I am sharing some things that I plan to take with me for the trip! I've been shopping for weeks, and I can't wait to share some great content with you all from our travels! XO

Kimono Love

Kimono | White Jeans | Sandals | Tank | Bag

I picked up this kimono a few weeks ago from Bloomingdale's, and I've been dying to pull it out ever since! I was planning to save it for our trip to California next week (which I can't wait to share more about!), but last week when it was warm here I decided it was time to bust it out! Yellow is a color that seriously makes me happy! This kimono screams all things Spring and Summer, and it would be so fabulous styled over a bathing suit, too, as a coverup on your next beach vacay! This particular design is also available in a dress, which you can shop here! I adore the dress version even more! Below, I am linking some other fun kimonos that I found at all different price points! Happy shopping! XO

The Bloomingdale's Friends & Family Sale!

This week marks the beginning of the Bloomingdale's friends and family sale (online 4/6-4/15 and in store 4/9-4/15) making this one of my favorite times to stock up on some of my Spring must-haves. Bloomie's has always been the place that I'll splurge on some of my favorite designers - case and point here with this Rebecca Taylor dress. Every Spring I always treat myself to a top from my favorite designer, Joie, and a nice, silky dress (or two!) from Rebecca Taylor, Parker, or one of my all-time faves, Alice and Olivia. When I saw this gorgeous Rebecca Taylor off-the-shoulder number last week, I immediately grabbed it off the rack to feel the silk. Her dresses are always done right - subtle, chic, and seriously luxurious! You won't be disappointed, and it's always nice to have a favorite Spring dress in your closet that you can reach for when you need it! Linking a few more of my picks from the sale below! XO

Everyday Tops

I shared this outfit last week on Instagram talking about how I am currently trying to invest in more tops for "everyday wear." Tops that I can literally just throw on with some jeans and go. Aren't those essential for all of us?! As you all know, I work in an environment where I usually have to dress up on the daily. However, there are days that we can wear jeans (not very many), but I've found myself being able to mix tops like this with jeans on casual days and then tucked into skirts on normal days. Rachel Parcell has always been one of my favorite bloggers, so when she released her clothing line I knew there would be so many pieces that I loved. On top of her main line which includes lots of feminine dresses and skirts, she came out with an everyday line that includes pieces that are practical, affordable, and ideal for women on the go. This post is not sponsored, but I truly just love her line and everything she's doing with it! Below, I've included some of my favorite pieces from it along with other tops that are functional and practical for everyday wear, the weekend, and some that can be mixed in with work wear! Wishing you all a great weekend ahead!! XO

Must-Have: Classic & Chic White Pants

Exact pants can be found here and I also LOVE these!
Shoes | Handbag | Sunglasses

Happy Monday! I hope y'all had a great Easter weekend with family and friends! The weather was so nice here and it truly felt like Spring! I had the day off from work on Good Friday, so I spent the day shopping around and met Buddy downtown for lunch in the midst of hitting up some of my favorite stores downtown! Whichhh brings me to this post and these AMAZING white pants!! There's a Zara in the middle of downtown DC (Metro Center to be exact if you're local), and I always try to stop in every few weeks to see what's new in store. In my last post, I mentioned how I found these black shorts there on my recent NYC trip. Well, when I stopped in on Friday, these white pants were front and center in the store, and I immediately snagged them. I am 5'11" so finding pants long enough for my frame has been a struggle all my life basically. So, I immediately thought, well, they probably won't be long enough, but I'm going to give them a shot anyways. I took them in the dressing room and just about died when I put them on and realized they were long enough, high waisted, and not see-through! Win, win, and win! I wanted to pair a bright floral top with them for these pics, but I decided to keep the look simple and chic in just black and white. This top is old, but you could tuck any black, silky tank into these pants for a similar look! A look that is classic and chic and always in style. Wishing you a great start to your week!! XO
